Wherever your pain problem is emanating from, we can work together to get you in a much better position
Maybe you want to feel like you’re having very firm work done, or maybe you want the more gentle therapies. Whatever you’re looking for, if its remedying pain and discomfort, this is my primary goal.
Skeletal, muscular issues
Back pain, necks and knees etc
Longstanding or recent injuries
Structural aches and pains
Sinus and headaches
The type of hands-on pain relief I do can be adapted to you and your current condition
I can be flexible at work so there are times when massage is contraindicated, ie pregnancy or acute injury, which means I can use the other techniques for effective help without compromising patient care.
Some people like to have rehabilitation ideas to be able to continue the work we achieve in the clinic at home, this can be great for some and others admit they won’t do it. As long as I know we can always tailor everything so it is just right for you.
Because my hobbies involve a lot of watersports, I regularly work with people for sinus issues, helping with drainage, relieving pressure, interrupting regular infections. Great for respiratory problems, clearing the airways, colds and hay fever.
Out of my own personal interest over the years I have specialised in working with people with Lymphoedema, creating a databank of Clients progress before and after treatment with the Emmett Technique. This included pictures and measurements allowing for clear evidence of the impact this relaxing gentle treatment can have on the bodies drainage system. Great for assisting detox too.
Allow me to explain further the hands-on techniques
I offer in my Clinic
The Bowen Technique
Tom Bowen developed this technique now known as, The Bowen Technique, as a gentle effective form of body balance for optimum health helping those common problems such as back and neck pain with an incredible capacity to promote extremely deep relaxation.
In a Bowen move, one or more of these structures will be activated using a gentle rolling type movement. By utilising physical energy within your muscles and fascia, this sends a piezoelectric type charge or signal through the structure and up to the brain. As the move is so unique, your body will then investigate the area further. This is when misalignments or tension within the structure, or connections to it, are found and the healing process begins.
The Emmett Technique
The Emmett Technique is a unique body therapy technique created by Ross Emmett. It offers an alternative treatment to relieve pain and discomfort and may help to benefit many conditions including;
- Releases neck and shoulder discomfort
- Aids headaches and sinus discomfort
- Ear discomfort, hearing impingements
- Assists back and hip pain
- Improves knee and ankle restrictions
- Offers pregnancy and infant assistance
- Reduces stomach discomfort
- Assisting bladder discrepancies
- Aids forearm and grip strength
- Improves body symmetry and balance
- Increases lung capacity
- Body flexibility
- Increases stability
The treatment can be done fully clothed and incorporates a gentle physical release of muscle groups with gentle holding points on specific areas whilst using a verbal approach to create attitude change.
The Emmett Technique focuses on problems areas only, “don’t fix what’s not broken.” When you come for a treatment you will be given a full assessment so we can work on the areas that need attention.
How does it work?
The technique involves the application of light pressure at particular points and in sequences that enables the gentle physical release of muscle groups helping to relieve pain and discomfort
The technique can be used as an effective adjunct to enhance the treatment value of other types of muscle release and neuro-musculoskeletal therapy or may be used as an effective therapy on its own. Practitioners are taught ways to more accurately assess Client status and to apply techniques derived from NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) for better Client outcomes.
Sports and Remedial Massage
Sports and remedial massage offers a physically deeper method of helping to relieve pain, discomfort and movement restriction. Trained with the London School of Sports Massage the high level of assessing, treating and rehabilitation is far exceeding any sports massage courses available today.
Sports massage being a bit misleading as this treatment is available to anyone. Sat at an office desk unknown to many is a real work out for certain muscles having to maintain that posture for long periods of time!
It is because of athletes that have benefited long term from this kind of treatment that it has become widely recognised for everyone as a way of feeling better, stronger and balanced. A conscientious person who has treatments as part of their regular programme will find an improvement in recovery time from any activity, injury prevention, postural improvement, performance and function enhancement.
Massage is well known for its ability to help improve blood flow to local areas encouraging tissue healing and repairing, with this level 5 Diploma, the massage is a tool to “Remedying” the underlying problem.
A full body assessment is given to allow for the understanding of where the problem may be coming from and a range of soft tissue techniques used along with a follow-up rehabilitation plan so as to help maintain a long term improvement. Rehabilitation really helps to consolidate the work achieved in the clinic, designing a programme specifically tailored for each individual Client will assist in further progress that can be done at home for free.
This treatment is suitable for anyone suffering with:
- Pain and Discomfort
- Movement Restriction
- Joint Problems
- Postural Assistance
- Injuries, Recent or Longstanding
- Long Term/Chronic Conditions
- Active Sporting Persons with Re-occurring Discrepancies
I am always developing my skills further and I am currently training in Craniosacral Therapy so I can bring this amazingly wonderful treatment into my Clinic.
Craniosacral Therapy is a very gentle therapy that uses light pressure on the head, neck, and back to relieve the stress and pain caused by compression. Subtle manipulation of the bones in the skull, spine and sacrum, influences the flow of cerebrospinal fluid within the central nervous system which in turn can have a huge impact in enhancing the body’s own ability to heal.
Craniosacral therapy (CST) is an extensively practised, worldwide therapy working with the bodies cranial rhythm to help restore balance and well being in a deep and profound way. It is a gentle and potent method of working with the body using a light touch. People sometimes ask about the name “craniosacral therapy” and think it only refers to the head. In fact, CST works with the whole person and changes may occur in body, mind and spirit during and after sessions.
CST supports your body’s innate ability to balance, restore and heal itself, as well as helping to reduce stress and build your underlying energy.
Who is it for?
Because it is so gentle and non-invasive, CST is suitable for everyone from newly-born babies to the elderly. Again, because of its gentle and safe methods, women often come during pregnancy, and mothers and their babies for problems associated with difficult or traumatic births. Letting go of tension and fear held in the body enables both mother and baby to settle into calmness.
What to expect
For your needs to be met our first appointment will last an hour, this allows for a thorough assessment and full treatment. After this if follow on sessions are required, these are 45 minutes. For those I have worked with already, first aid appointments are available.
How many sessions will I need?
For your needs to be met our first appointment will last an hour, this allows for a thorough assessment and full treatment
After this, if follow on sessions are required, these are 45 minutes. For those I have worked with already, first aid appointments are available – these are 15-minute sessions when there is a recent injury or a great way to initiate healing. Using the more gentle techniques, muscle correction work can have an immediate impact on the inflammatory process, helping to influence the bodies rate of recovery.
