It is easy for us to know what we DON’T want, but what is it we DO want?

And how investigating how we think can give us direction?

I want to grow my business, evolving more into the mind side of things.  A number of times over the last few weeks its come into my awareness about people having a ‘Bigger Picture’, ie what they want in life, goals, dreams to aspire to.

So many people can lose sight of what it is they really want because they are so consumed by a problem or focusing on what it is they DON’T want.  If this phrase has some truth……..   “where attention goes energy flows”  couldn’t it be of value to have something in mind that you DO want?

The Hudson Mind Process (HMP) puts it out there that cancer patients may often not have a ‘Bigger Picture.’  They are given a diagnosis that can completely consume all their thoughts and this causes a change in focus.  Before they saw their future, where they wanted to go, what they wanted to do, now they have a scary diagnosis ahead of them.  Without any dreams or goals or anything to get up for, can you begin to see and get a feel of how hard it is for people to focus on anything else other than the problem?

Our mind works by way of images, we see where we are going, what we are working towards, just like when we are driving we need to see the road ahead with knowledge of the destination.

In goal-setting sessions I think of myself as a teacher/mechanic, showing people how to use the windscreen wipers, or fill up with water, even adding a bit of antifreeze.  Using thier new learnings can allow them to get clearer of where they are going and what they really do want.  Changing the view can make things a lot more fun and may actually free up energy to continue on the journey stopping off at many points along the way to explore and enjoy.

I love working with people helping them to get a sense of what it is they really want and then assisting them in realising it. The help I offer allows my clients to get clearer on their goals and then engaging all their senses we work together to create their new ‘Bigger Picture.’ in their mind.

As I’m writing this I’m thinking well then………  what is it about growing my business I want specifically?   Perhaps its time for me to do a bit more goal setting as I’m becoming aware it’s changed again.  It’s ok that our goals change, steady change is healthy, as we evolve and flow with life so we change in many other ways, new ways……
